What is USDC?
USDC (USD Coin) is a fiat-backed stablecoin issued by Circle. Each USDC token is intended to be redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars, with reserves held in cash and short-duration U.S. government obligations. These reserves are held with regulated financial institutions, and Circle publishes regular attestations from third-party accounting firms to verify the backing of USDC in circulation. USDC is available on multiple blockchains and is used in a variety of applications, including payments, trading, decentralized finance (DeFi), and remittances.
